Hello There, Welcome! : Week 1

Hello there, and welcome to my blog!

Starting something new is almost always exciting, confusing, and a little trilling to myself personally. I can't wait to build this blogging website and spill out my creativity on it. What I have seen so far is that this blogging site is quite versatile and that I can really craft it into anything I see fit.

One of the first processes was to pick out a theme for my site. My eyes were in heaven at the sight of so many options and unique layouts. I immediately got drawn to the Soho category when picking out my theme. The minimalist in me was screaming of excitement at the clean letters,  cohesive colors, and creative yet chic display of the whole site.

I kept my options open when looking down the other categories, but I was already fixed on the Soho theme from the start. Some of the other themes brought attention to themself with more color diversity, avant-garde lettering, and a different feel and flavor to them. But, they didn't quite make the cut in my eyes.

The reason I am so in love with this specific theme is due to the fact that it oozes New York to me. The name its self is a place in New York, who couldn't love that? Another key component was the different color options; black, white, and a pinky cream color. One of my all-time favorite Directors, Wes Anderson, uses a similar pinky cream color in many of his films. So how could I not choose that dreamy cream color? Thus, these were all the key components in picking the perfect theme for my site... There was just a bit of overthinking involved in the process, but you have to always be certain, and trust your gut!

I am excited to also share that a large reason for me selecting to take this course was due to my wanting to dive deeper into my understanding of social media as marketing for my brand 'The ArtJive'. I am wanting to build a community of individuals who find artistic expression, mental health discussion, and community an important aspect of any person's life. I would also love to learn how to create revenue from social media as well as creating engagement.

The platforms I will be utilizing are; Instagram, Youtube, TikTok, Facebook, and Pinterest. I feel that all of these platforms really reach a broad and different type of audience for each individual platform. There are several components to each platform that the other does not have, so that is why I feel as a brand it is valuable to be found on all of these socials.

Instagram is one of the main platforms that as a brand I focus on. This is because it has such a large amount of sales options linked to it through; stories links, direct Shopify, and the explore page. The next very important one is Facebook. This social reach our older audience and is very focused on community and mutual friends. Pinterest is important for getting the brand out there, and sharing it with people whos interests connect with our brand due to algorithms and 'cookies'.

All of this brings me much excitment to what's to come in this course!

Until next time,

Izzy xxx

  6. Hello! I was just thinking this looked like a New Yorker article. Clean layout, simple pallet, and high contrast text. I like in this theme there is nothing distracting from the content of the article, or post. Very engaging. Looking forward to your next post.
