Marketing with Twitter, LinkedIn, and Social Influencers : Week 11 Part A/B

Marketing with Twitter, LinkedIn, and Social Influencers:

This week I explored the social media platforms LinkedIn and Twitter. As a company, it is very important to look and evaluate which social media platforms are right for your brand, and what social media platforms are going to elevate your brand to the audience that you are trying to reach. For my brand specifically, I looked at all the social media platforms to evaluate which would benefit my brand best. This included Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and even YouTube. After much research, I have learned which accounts work best for me and my brand, and what each social media does that makes it unique and beneficial for a certain brand.

These two platforms are very different from each other, however, both have the element of sharing information with an audience. I learned that certain brands work better on certain social media platforms because of the way that their brand is run, viewed by the public, and what point they want to get across to their audience.

Going in more depth to LinkedIn I learned that the main mission of the app is to share information about work opportunities, open positions, and future employment options. Its main purpose is to get people job connections and get the brand or company employees. However, what I also saw was brand recognition opportunities through posting which would show up on your feed. This aspect of LinkedIn was very mirrored to the feed aspect of Instagram.

Through playing with the app and exploring it, I learned that LinkedIn is a great tool for a company to look for new employees as well as employees looking for a company to work at. This app is mainly for connecting and allows a person to get a job online. Having the ability to share information through the feed allows the brand to be humanized and explorable. For my company specifically, I do not believe LinkedIn is the best way to spend my social media time and energy at this point. However, when looking for employees I believe this is a great option and tool to utilize.

In regards to Twitter, I explored the app and realize that its main mission is to share quick information as well as fast information to the public. What I mean by this is, it is an app where a person’s attention span is shorter and quicker, however, it gets the point across to the viewer. By exploring this app I realized that you are only allowed a certain amount of characters per post, which stays on-brand with this fast-paced social media. As well, it seems as though the conversations on this social media platform are controversial, funny, or factual. It is not the place where you share a paragraph-long comment or a newsletter-style post.

For my brand specifically, I believe Twitter is a very good option. It seems as though it is very simple to post on, and does not require much preparation to prepare a post. It would be a great platform to release upcoming events, new launches, and any extra information that we want to release to the public in a faster way. Twitter seems like a great option to get conversations started as well as an audience accumulated.

In regards to social influencers, I believe that they are a great source of marketing especially for a brand like mine. With my past clothing brand, We used many influencers to market our brand. They are a great way to spread your message in a humanized way, reach a broader audience, and share real-life opinions about your brand all in an affordable way.

After viewing both of these social media platforms, I have realized that there are many social media platforms that offer many different things. This is a very good thing in regards to different companies offering different things. Some social media platforms will be effective for some brands but not effective for others. What I learned through exploring and researching about LinkedIn and Twitter is that LinkedIn is not a social media platform I will be investing my time in right now, however it could be in the future. As well as with Twitter, this is a very good option for my brand right now.

Until Next Time,

Izzy

  2. Hi Izzy, I appreciate how you gave a background for each platform that you explored in case the reader wasn't familiar with it. I was especially impressed with how LinkedIn could be specifically utilized for you. I went in there just thinking that it was not the right fit for my education brand. You went in and saw the possibility of connecting with future employees. I'll have to look at LinkedIn again.
